Incorporation of Maltmen Annual Dinner 2019

Visitor Billy Birse Stewart hosted a wonderful night of music and entertainment with guest speakers and a visitation from The Cordiners that was enjoyed by all

A great dinner was staged in true ‘Maltmen’ fashion at the Trades House on 8th March with an excellent attendance.

We were fortunate to enjoy a speech delivered by the former Lord Mayor of London and master of the Vintners Company of London, Sir Andrew Parmley which was both humorous and inciteful into the workings of the Incorporation as part of Trades House.

Famed author of many books on whisky, Charlie McLean delivered  the toast to the Maltmen and we enjoyed a visitation from the Deacon and Collector of the Cordiners led in by Collector Roddy Young.

An excellent musical interlude was delivered in two parts. First from PM Donald Glass on his pipes after dinner and then by two students from the Conservatoire-Cameron and Cavan, who delivered excellent renditions of traditional Scottish ‘Drinking songs’.

Lorna Birse-Stewart decorated the tables magnificently with malt sacks filled with barley, mini ‘maltmen’ biscuits and ex Visitor Richard Paterson provided miniatures of whisky.

Visitor Billy Birse-Stewart spoke about the closer ties of the Maltmen and Trades House, the important changes to our rules which includes the admittance of lady members and conducted a lively, fun filled evening which everyone enjoyed.
